Over the weekend, the good memories only served as painful reminders of the void that is left behind with his absence. Today, those memories are just beginning to serve more as that detour to the heartache of the ending, as you so elegantly put it. I remember Ernie! Dandy was a real sweetie. My first schnauzer Pepper (Big Pepper) would chase geckos off our wall. Sometimes, we would entice him to go outside by saying "go get geckos!" We have given away most of our pets over the years due to moving and complications around the new residences each time. We had to bury one of our dogs and it was so sad.
