New Product Alert from the GrumpyOldChef!

So, what does a chef know about saving energy? You'd be surprised!  I met "Grumpy" on a forum about a year ago and was quite impressed with his imaginative writing style and his firm desire to NOT put pen to paper unless it is going to actually benefit you somehow.

As a relative newcomer to the internet business scene, this guy has come a long way and taken the first critical steps to success;

Creating a Product!

This isn't his first project, by the way.  Grumpy has an ebook website that he launched roughly a year ago.  I had the privilege to be one of the first to preview his Pasta Master Class ebook. Right away I was able to impress my wife with some authentic Italian cooking the way a real chef would do it!  For $9.97 it's a steal!  I'm constantly prodding him to raise his price, but he's a stubborn cuss from down under, and so far he's not budging.

OK, back on subject now.   Aside from being an awesome chef, he's got some great ideas on how to save money!  I've always thought of myself as being pretty good when it came to saving energy.  I turn off the light when I leave a room (ok, my wife trained me, hehe), turn down the thermostat a notch in the winter, etc.  My utility bills have always been pretty reasonable because of my habits.

Naturally I thought OK, this is probably a great read (Grumpy is a natural born writer) so honestly, I started reading the book thinking that I would get more entertainment value from it than anything I could actually apply.  After all, I already knew how to save energy, it's not exactly rocket science, right?

Well it seems that Grumpy showed me just how wrong I was!  This book was packed with ideas on easy techniques to save money that I never thought of before.  Just a few changes in my habits while doing the laundry, cooking, etc has really made a difference!  Plus, the book pointed out all kinds of energy "holes" that I was overlooking in my home.

My electric bill has averaged $20 less per month since I first began applying these principles last spring (2007).  I suspect that my gas bill will be lower this winter as well.  Time will tell.  My summer bill has been around $12.00 per month (Last summer I was averaging $28.00!)  When you do the math, you can see that this really begins to add up!

I don't think Grumpy has missed a trick!  He covers the home from top to bottom.  Attic, duct work, furnace, bathroom, bedroom and more.  Applying Gumpy's techniques will free up more cash for things like reinvesting into your business each month.

The Energy Savings Benefits ebook gives you a return on your investment that literally lasts a lifetime!  Like any ebook, if you want the benefits, you have to apply what you read of course.

If you think that keeping more of your green in "hip national bank" is better than donating to the utility companies, then you really should check this out!

Lynn Terry’s Blog

ClickNewz Internet Marketing BlogI've been following ClickNewz for a few months now an I have to say that I really enjoy her posts.  It seems that Lynn Terry is constantly on the prowl for new and useful information, and she has no problem delivering the goods either.

Whether it's affiliiate marketing, seminars, traffic tips, or recommendations on the newest thing, you'll find it there.  Her down to earth and informative writing style makes for an interesting read, even on subjects that I may not have much interest in.  That's a talent that either comes naturally, or takes a long time to develop.  I would venture to guess that in her case it comes naturally.

Coincidentally, we use the same PressCut WordPress theme.  I just happen to like the theme and apparently she does too.  This site and ClickNewz are in no way related to each other, although I have been influenced by some of her layout ideas.

Lynn Terry has been around in the internet marketing arena for a while and has a definite presence on the web.  She also has her own marketing forum and the members are quite friendly.  I have to admit that I've only been a "lurker" at the selfstarters… forum, but I'll come out from under my rock soon.

I would have to say what impresses me most is her ability to come up with so much useful information on every aspect of internet business.  It's obvious that she puts a lot of time into her research.

Whether you're a serious marketer, just thinking about getting started, or somewhere in between, I would highly recommend adding Lynn Terry to your list of 'must read' websites.  My blogroll is very short because there are very few that I will recommend, but for what its worth, Lynn Terry will top that short list.

The Ultimate Blogging Course For Marketers

how to make a web blogThe Ultimate Blogging Course For Marketers has been released!  The blogging course is made up of 19 videos which are designed to take a raw beginner by the hand and step you through each process of creating your own blog using WordPress.

The course starts out with a "blogging 101" video that explains what blogging is and how it benefits you as an internet business person to have one.  Next you move on to setting up your own domain.  This video can be skipped if you already have a domain or know how to set one up.  If you're brand new to the internet marketing arena, this is a very handy video to show you how to get your domain and web host set up.

After that you get into the meat of the course with downloading and installing wordpress.  I even walk you through the process of creating the MySQL database.  This is probably the single most intimidating factor for the newbie.  The newbie may find this worth the price of admission by itself!

Next we choose a theme and set it up to give the blog a more professional look.  This video is followed by those that cover installing plug-ins, installing using widgets, making your first blog post, and setting up a capture form for email subscribers.  The capture form videos start with signing up for your auto-responder account through GetResponse.com, setting up your auto-responder, and installing the form to your blog.

The next area covered is creating a logo for your site.   This is all done using open source software.  In other words, FREE software!  I didn't see any sense in using Photoshop or Macromedia Fireworks because I didn't want new marketers to be left out in the cold if they didn't own one of these fine, but pricey products.  I show you how to get and download the software, and take you step by step through creating the logo!

Finally, in the last video, I tweak and refine the blog for its final look.  The internet business blog that is created in the blogging course is JackKeifer.com.  The domain name was purchased during the creation of the video as was the entire blog.  Everything that you see in the blog including the blog posts from May 14th, 2007 was created entirely in the video course.  The July 15th Sales Letter Post was created after words of course.

If you're new to the game of blogging and want to take it to the next level but never knew how to really do it right, then here's your chance.  Check out the Ultimate Blogging Course now!

A Useful Firefox Tool

Every once in a while I come across a neat little gem while surfing the net. I like to share these with my readers, especially the free stuff! After all, you can't get a better price than that, right? I am a [tag]Firefox[/tag] user and rarely use Internet Explorer unless I'm testing a [tag]webpage[/tag] that I'm [tag]designing[/tag] or if I need to get on some backwards website that was designed for IE users only. One of the cool things you can do with firefox is that you can add many nice extensions to your browser. Some of my personal favorites are "Forcastfox", "Download Them All", and "[tag]StumbleUpon[/tag]". The newest member of my collection is "SEOpen", which has many useful tools for checking your page rank with [tag]Google[/tag], Yahoo, MSN, [tag]Alexa[/tag], etc. With the top 3 search engines, you can also check your [tag]backlinks[/tag], cache, indexed pages, pages that are related, and even translate too! On the Alexa button you can check your alexa rating, [tag]traffic[/tag], related sites, and backlinks. If that wasn't already cool enough, you also get an "Other Tools" button which allows you to Check DMOZ, analyze your links, check your [tag]keyword density[/tag], server headers, page size, robots.txt, archives, and whois info! Whew! that's quite a list and I didn't cover them all! If you value the importance of keeping your webpages optimized for the search engines, you might want to get this tool. It's free and you can also use it to check out your fellow marketers to see how you rank in comparison to them. [tags]SEO[/tags]

Attractor Factor

James Brausch has just recommended a book by Joe Vitale called "Attractor Factor" This book may be of interest to you if you liked my post relating to the Law of Attraction a couple weeks ago. I've read some of Joe Vitale's materials before and found them truly inspiring. Joe Vitale is one of the Big boys and a great source of inspiration and guidance. My own copywriting is inspired by Joe's material. I'm no Joe Vitale obviously, but that's the level I aspire to reach or exceed. :P If James Brausch finds merit in his work, then what else can I say? Check it out.
